Turning Terrible 'TWO'

Let me take this opportunity to THANK LORD for taking care of me throughout my last year. Every day of last year, indeed every minute of every day, is filled with God's blessings; throughout the year HE guard me in his safe hands. Thank You GOD for giving me another year to live to celebrate. Let me take this opportunity to THANK MY PARENTS for their love, care and support they have given to me throughout. Also let me take this opportunity to point each one of you, my relatives and friends for all the love and care you have shown to me. And I pray that you all will always guide me, support me and help me to be a better person every day.

Whom you love the most, APPA or Mummy?
I know the question is very tricky but I have a clear answer. I am APPA's girl. Appa takes me out, give computer and kindle fire to play angry birds, buy toys for me and the best he don't shout at me for not having food. I love mummy when i need a diaper change and food.

Tell me about your last year?
I know I have to give a long description since last year my parents didn't do any update about me to you all. They both were very busy with their work load. I missed the most is full time presence of my mom but I got a lot other friends to spend my time. Last year for me was full of excitements and explorations. I enjoyed each moment of that to the core.

First excitement happened last year was I started going to Baby Sitter. This is the place from where I studied calling PAPPA MUMMY. I got a sister Checha (Tresa) and two brother Bahba (Jacob) and Thachu. They take me to their relatives and friends place so I have got lot friends from there. From Thachu I studied computer and Bahba taught me mobile interface. Checha chachi help me to dress like a princess.

Next milestone was I started walking. It was really new exploration way for me than crawling. It helped me playing ball, running to everywhere and reach everything i want without my parents help. I got lot of compliments from my neighbors saying I will be a good trucker; I will be a good football player etc. But still my parents don't have that confidence in the way i walk. My mom always shout saying "ANIKA SLOWLY!!!!". They say I walk like "NJAKADDI VANDDAN" since i walk like spring action jumping. ;)
Since I can walk I go all time to Chichu and Meghu's house. I have got lot to say when it comes to CHICHU and MEGHU. There are lot of my favourite cookies, toys and lots of stickers with Chichu. I spend most of my time with when I get permission to play outside. Chichu and i enjoy playing bubbles, ball and chasing Squirrels in summer. I got a surprise gift from Anil uncle a beautiful "Pattu Pavada". Oops I forgot... I got a sleepover with Chichu one day. We slept earlier so didn't get much time to play. I wish Julia chachi, Jaiden chachan and Shanu chachi also was here. So we all might have played together.

Another great milestone was I started talking. It is really a good experience since i can convey my feelings to others. Initially it was difficult for everyone to understand my language. But my mum really learned my language fast but my Appa was not upto the mark. He still calls my mom and asks what I am saying. She is gradually trying to improve my language by speaking to me continually and correcting my mistakes. Also I start learning and singing nursery songs, few lines of devotional songs and lullaby songs. Also I love to do action songs and dance.

Another achievement of my life was my first flight trip, a visit to INDIA. Everyone was expecting me as a chubby white baby with English speaking. Everyone was shocked seeing my health condition but was very surprised of the way how I understand MALAYALAM. It was a great opportunity to meet my Great GrandMother; Ammachi with a beautiful smile. My grandparents were trying to win the match who is the best by trying to over feed and teaching disciplines. But I proved without food and disciplines we can survive ;). I enjoyed Aapachans MOTTA THALA by biting and pinching.
I got opportunity to meet my Emin achachan and Elvin chachan. Emin chachan is soo sweet and Elvin chachan is a good care taker. They love their ANIKA mol so much. Linji (Lincy) chachi is the one precious person I met in INDIA. She always takes me to here and there. She showed me fish, birds and my favorite dog Dinjhu (Dingu). Celebrated Onam with my relatives and cousins. I saw Palli (lizards), Eecha (flies), Kozhi (hen), Ana(elephant) and also I know how to catch a mosquito. I met all my relatives and cousins in Kerala related to my Appa and Amma.

My trip to meet Krishnapuram Appachan was the best part of my INDIA visit. Almost 10 people were always surrounded with me those 2 days. Everyone treated and taken care of me like a princess as they know these moments are very precious and will get only rarely. I fed birds, show my action songs and sing the songs I know to everyone and had lot of icecreams. We all enjoyed a lot. It was a great opportunity to meet the place and people where my mum brought up in her childhood. Also i visited devotional places like Kattachira Palli, Manarcad Church and Manjinikara Dayara.

These are my main milestones of last year. With these I know how to brush my teeth, apply body lotion, and wear my socks and shoes my own. I love to help Mummy in cleaning bedsheet, brooming and throwing garbage. My Appa and Amma love me for my little helper quality. Hope coming year you all will try to come and meet me and spend time with me. Love you all and keep in prayers.

Regards,
Anika Thomas

Apart OR Depart – Not a complete farewell.

Dedicated To My Aunt Molly mamma   who  was called to her eternal rest on  June 5th 2013 at 11:15 PM ************* We get chances to meet lot strange people in our day to day living. And in a short span of time some of them will become good friends who start living with us and some vanish with or without leaving some marks in our life.  I wish to think of the people who left from us by leaving behind some marks to remind them lifelong. "Living miles away from you still I can hear the voice of your heart". I am not sure whether anyone else holds the copyright for this quote. But for me it is very special and personal. This is the [useless] promise given by a 16 year old boy to a 15 year old girl 16 years back. I still remember the quote with the depth of the wordings, style of writing, beauty of the page it is written and more over the person who wrote for me. Writing autographs was very touchy during our school- college farewell days. Not sure whethe...

WHAT IS LIFE?

It reminds me Dario Fo’s quote “Know how to live the time given to you.” Yes that is right. Life should be for those who know how to live on it. Uncertain about the fact; I am feeling to be with my friend AMY now.  We are school friends and still keep that relation. I met her during my last INDIA visit which was totally unexpected. We had a coffee chat and recollected some of our childhood day’s memories. Teenage is the stage where most of them live in their imaginary world. The beauty of it was very elegant and there were no limits for your reach. We had and shared about our vision of bright future, high ambitions, best family, successful goals - oh my GOD and was successful in all the fields we could. Wish real life was the same. I like her because of the simplicity and innocence. Our dream towards becoming a teacher, having a family, building a house etc. was exactly the same. All these were during our teenage time. But nothing happened as wish. Everything changed in all ...
